Do You Need Auto Body Repair?

Do you need auto body repair done on your car? Here’s what you can expect if you need repairs.

1. A fender bender is going to be a big expense. If you are at fault for the fender bender, and you only have the standard minimum liability for an accident, kiss your dollar bills goodbye. However, OEM parts are far more expensive than non-OEM parts because they are a “brand name” and are often in demand.

If you are not at fault, and the auto body shop says the damage was caused by your fault, your best bet is to get the work done and go back to the shop to get your claim in order. Then, you should contact the auto body shop to make sure you’re getting the correct part.

Most major damage or accidents will require some type of collision damage repair. If you need to use OEM parts for your vehicle, you can expect to pay about double the price of non-OEM parts. And, the parts you use may not fit correctly.

If the work is to change your vehicle’s engine, you might be able to save a bit of money. The work will also likely be much more difficult to do, and many shops offer lower prices for such work.

If you’ve already bought the parts you need to do the job, you can expect that your shop will ask you to pay a higher price for the OEM parts than the generic parts would cost. Why is this? Because the parts used in your car will be made in a factory. They’re designed to be durable and last a long time, so your car’s performance and longevity will increase.

But if you don’t need auto body repair work done, you might be surprised at how easy it is to get the parts you need. Many people try to get parts from the same store where they bought their car. This doesn’t always happen, though, so be sure to ask before buying.

As you can see, it may not be necessary to hire an independent mechanic to do work on your vehicle if you don’t need auto body repair work done. It’s simply too expensive to pay for expensive repairs when you could have used parts. If you still want to get parts to fix the damage yourself, though, keep in mind that the work isn’t easy and requires the skill of an experienced mechanic. But in most cases, if you need to get OEM parts, the parts will work just fine and cost you only slightly more.

If you need some help in choosing the best parts for your car, look online or in magazines for reviews of the stores that sell auto body repair parts. Make sure you choose a shop with high customer reviews, as the more positive feedback, the better. It is also important to choose a shop that has an extensive repair program. Some auto body repair shops only sell parts to people who need them.

If you don’t need auto body repair work done, then you need to make sure you know what kind of damage your vehicle is facing. In order to repair the damage yourself, you should contact a mechanic who specializes in this work. Otherwise, you may end up spending money on an expensive repair that doesn’t fix your problem.

Look for stores that offer a warranty on the parts you buy if they don’t come from OEM. And, if they can’t provide you with a warranty, find another shop to get the parts from. These shops are usually less expensive, and you can often save money.

If you decide that it is necessary to get parts from an independent store, remember to check to see if they offer OEM, as well. Some do, but the store may have parts that you can get from a third party.
